I just got back from a few day is beautiful Wausau Wisconsin.  No joke.  It is a beautiful little town full of all sorts of historic homes.

My mom and I drove up there to see the Birds in Art exhibition.  It was totally worth the 6 hour drive.  I wish the museum had posted pics of the art pieces.  Some of them were simply amazing.  I would like to think that craftsmanship is my driving force and these artists, even though they are working in a completely different medium really gave me something  to aspire to.

I have been making progress on the Luv-able Hug-able show.  (Photo gallery is from last year’s show)  Promise I’ll take some pics early next week.

So I finally have some progress worth sharing….Here is a girl I am working on for the Luv-able Hug-able show.

After working on her for awhile I realized that she is sort of inspired by the Morton Salt girl. I have always been fond of her and especially the color scheme.  I must have copied it subconsciously.  I am thinking of making her a blue rain coat.

BTW, her leg it not broken.  I just haven’t sewn it on yet and it is just stuck under her dress.

Thanks to everyone for wishing me well.  I feel much better.  I am down to only one coughing fit a day :)

A few of you have asked about the fox pattern.  I still do intend to put it in my etsy shop.  I am just being slow about it, sorry.  In the meantime I have a really important show to get ready for.  I have been invited to my first New York gallery, and it’s in Soho too!  I am very excited.  The show is called Luv-able Hug-able at Gallery Hanahou.  I have most of my pieces started already.  I’ll get some pics up soon.

That’s me in Ireland with a bunch of sheep in the background.  We (my husband Terry, my brother John, my dad and I) started our trip with 6 days in Dublin.  I live in a mainly Irish neighborhood in Chicago, so it all seemed sort of familiar.  Next we went out to the country for 8 days, which was by far my favorite part of the trip.  I got to see lots of ruins and TONS of sheep, which was my main objective.

We stayed at Ballymaloe, a slightly shabby country house.  It was fantastic.  I had Irish coffee in the drawing room every night before the 5 course meal prepared by the cookery school run by the same people.   It was a very relaxing atmosphere.  Which was perfect because I ended up having to stay in for much of the trip.  I caught what I am pretty sure is pneumonia and it still hasn’t gone away after a week and a half (I am writing this under the influence of Theraflu).

But like I said, I had a great time nonetheless.  The night before we left I bought an extra suitcase for all the aran wool I bought.  Some of it is pretty authentic stuff, a slightly uneven 3 ply with all the lanolin still in it.  Now I just need to decide what to do with it.  I am pretty sure some of it will be knitted into a sweater like this. I have been dying to make something with honeycomb stitch.  I have never done it before but I just like the way it looks.   The rest might become an aran aphghan, but I not sure.  That seems like a whole bunch of work, we’ll see.
