GourmetAmigurumi

The lion waited a couple of days for his photo-shoot.  So this afternoon I cleared off my desk, rearranged the lighting and took a few dozen pics.

Here he is looking contemplative:

Looking, I dunno, bored, I guess:

Thinking, “Man, I shouldn’t have said that!”:

You can see a bunch more photos here in his flickr set. He turned out very moody looking.  If I EVER get around to painting portraits of my amigurumis I think he will make a good subject.

  1. Perfeito !!!

  2. He is perfect!

I’m not sure how you fancy adding yet another repertoire of materials to your growing stash but have you considered needle felting as part of your details? Needle felted things like eyebrows would be cute! And maybe easier than sewing on teensy bits of felt.

Gorgeous! Incredible detail. I love his jacket and his hair has an attitude all its own. Will you be sharing with us sometime soon how you developed the facial indenture/ shaping? Is that some subtle decreasing?
Anyway fabulous job as always! Off to look at the flickr set. Thank you for sharing!

Are you planning a new book(?) ;o)

  5. he’s fab :) do you put wires in them so they bend and move?

  6. es tan hermoso!!!!! me gusta la expresión de su rostro, entre distante y amoroso con cierto rasgo melancólico. El abrigo es perfecto! Y me gusta mucho el delicado color de la melena.
    Beth, es usted un genio!!!

    Hi Rowan,
No he doesn’t have wires. I used pins to pose him the last pic and just put them in so you couldn’t see them.

    Hi Holly,
I am ALWAYS up for adding new techniques. But I beat you to it. His eyebrows are needle felted. I have used needle felting to add things like a mole to a girl’s face and Hilbert’s tongue:D

    Hi Grumble,
Glad you like him :D I start the face shaping by adding some decreases to the head. After I finish stuffing the head I use needle sculpting to further define the shape. That is, I sew through the head to the nose from a bunch of angles and tug really hard. A lot of times the yarn breaks because I pull it so much.

    Hi Tracy-Ann,
Nope, no book in the works. I am have so many new things I want to do with my amigurumis that I don’t have the time for another book right now.
